Author Uses Fantasy Role Playing Game to Attract Readers in Innovative Marketing Strategy, Invites Bloggers to Review Game
La Crosse, WI (PRWEB) October 23, 2007 -- Author AR Horvath is inviting bloggers to sign up for his role playing game based on his book, "Fidelis." Reviews of the game will be linked to from the Birth Pangs website. A commission program gives bloggers some of the profit from book sales resulting from their recommendations.
AR Horvath's book "Fidelis" is the first book in a seven book series called "Birth Pangs." It is set in the not too distant future after a vicious disease has coursed through America and numerous cities have been destroyed in a nuclear attack. The main character, Fides, is separated from his family and must journey back across a perilous landscape where anarchy is the rule rather than the exception. Filled with action and adventure and a hint of the fantastic, "Fidelis" is an exploration of what it means to be human.
Horvath's fantasy role playing game aims to capture the spirit of the Birth Pangs world as well as let players explore the cities and regions of the world as participants rather than only as readers. They can capture towns, control territory, fight off bandits, appoint sheriffs, and slay each other. They can be tyrants or they can be advocates for democracy. The players decide.
The RPG is free to join and free to play. New players enter the game with little more than the clothes on their backs, so Horvath has announced that along with the release of his game he is offering a special new player donation package. For a small, $5.00 donation, Horvath will equip the new player with enough resources to compete sooner.
Bloggers interested in playing and reviewing the game are also given extra start-up resources so that they can more quickly evaluate the game. Bloggers can also earn commissions for books sold through their site.
Horvath describes his reasons for producing the game, "When people read a good book they often enjoy it because they can see themselves in the world. They really wish that they can be in that world. I thought it would be neat if I could give readers an opportunity to do just that. Unlike other role playing games that are merely themed off of a movie or a book, the author is directly involved in this one. In theory, it is even possible that events in the RPG could find themselves described in a later book!"
The role playing game is just one component of Horvath's one-of-a-kind marketing program. He is also proud to announce a partnership with Sojourner Leather which has agreed to produce genuine, hand crafted leather book covers for his upcoming hard cover release of "Fidelis."
Horvath says, "There is a very interesting story behind our partnership. What happened is that when I made the decision to release "Fidelis" in hard cover I wanted an 'old book' feel, and at that time, Luke and Christine Thompson were in South America where, as fate would have it, they met an Argentine artisan who taught them the ancient craft of leather working. It was a match made in heaven. My online role playing game is one example of something that no other traditional publisher is doing. Offering authentic leather covered editions of its books is another example. It is all part of my quest to be on the cutting edge."
