SDSU Educational Technology Saturday Seminars for Teaching with Technology Go Online for Summer Session
San Diego (PRWEB) May 21, 2007 -- San Diego State University's Department of Educational Technology will debut its popular Saturday Seminars in Educational Technology in an online format during the 2007 Summer Session along with its normal schedule of graduate courses offered both online and on campus. Available to online students worldwide, this summer's selection of seminar topics includes:
* Blogs, Wikis, and Collaborative Learning
* Advanced Digital Video
* Designing and Managing Learning for the Global Audience
* 3D Multi-User Learning Environments (*online only)
Each course in the Seminar Series takes the form of a 1-unit workshop-style program that mixes highly interactive synchronous class meetings (either on campus or online*) with between-meeting discussions (online), readings, and project-based assignments. Students may take one or more of the Seminars, and up to six units of credit from seminars can be applied towards a Master's degree in Educational Technology.
"These seminars were designed to allow past and current students as well as practicing education, training and performance professionals to learn, discuss and explore practical applications involving cutting-edge technologies and topics," explained Educational Technology department chair Dr. Marcie Bober. "Students interested in professional development can update and extend their skills in this fast-paced and fun workshop format that also includes lively online discussions and extensive resource material for later reference."

Other courses offered this summer online and on the San Diego State campus feature 3-unit upper division and graduate courses - starting as early as May 24 - including:
* Introduction to Educational Technology
* Introductory and Advanced Teaching with Technology
* Introductory and Advanced Web Multimedia Development
Many of the courses may be taken through SDSU's Open University or College of Extended Studies and applied as prerequisites or credits towards the Master of Arts in Education Degree.
Students not currently in SDSU's graduate program can register for the online sections through the SDSU College of Extended Studies at http://www.ces.sdsu.edu/edtec.html at a cost of $273 for each 1-unit class. Those interested in the on-campus courses may attend the first session of a workshop and register through Open University (http://www.ces.sdsu.edu/open_info.html) with a fee of $197 per 1-unit seminar.
