Document Command Closes $2.84M Funding Round - Remote Control Mail Allows Customers to Access Postal Mail - Online
SEATTLE, WA (PRWeb) February 22, 2007 -- Document Command has closed a $2.84 million convertible note financing round. Document Command's product, Remote Control Mail™ online postal mail, allows people to access their postal mail -- online -- from anywhere in the world.
"Remotecontrolmail.com is changing the way people receive their postal mail, much like mobile phones did for telephone calls," said Ron Wiener, founder and CEO of Document Command. Customers are notified when new mail has entered the system, and the Web-based interface functions like familiar Web-based e-mail.
The majority of this current financing is from members of the Keiretsu Forum and corporate strategic partners. "We expect to use the proceeds of the current round to extend our capacity and capabilities through a variety of sales channel and production outsourcing partnerships," said Wiener. The notes are expected to convert into a Series A round in Q2 2007 when the company anticipates raising an additional $10 million.

The current funding will enable the company to accelerate the roll-out of its services to waiting customers including Fortune 1000 companies, government agencies, and national post offices. The Remote Control Mail service gives customers ranging from road warriors and RVers to mobile employees and accounting departments online access to their postal mail, from anywhere in the world, at any time. Remote Control Mail receives the mail each day, scans the outside of the sealed envelopes and presents this image to the customer online. The customer then determines whether to have the mail opened and scanned, shredded, recycled, transferred elsewhere, or forward-shipped. Much as people manage their mobile phones and emails -- the system is convenient, fast, and cost-effective. Mail addressed to specific departments or account numbers can also be automatically opened and scanned, as in the case of remittance processing where checks are extracted and electronically deposited for real-time access to funds.
